With the new addition of Watt bikes in the Vida Fitness gym, there are a few things to know to maximise your training. The Wattbike is more than just an indoor bike, it is a total training solution which combines the most advanced indoor bike with cutting edge digital technology and world-class training support.

Here are some common questions answered.

First things first, what are Watt Bikes?

Simply, watt bikes are cycling ergometers which measure the amount of power output (watts) that you produce while cycling.

Who can use a Watt Bike?

The great thing about Watt bikes is that they are used by general populations, all the way up to high-performance athletes to measure performance through the data supplied by the watt bike monitor.

What’s all the information and how do I decipher it?

The Watt Bikes measure 40 different parameters and display them on the monitors. The most important ones to look out for are:

  • Watts – Watts measure the amount of powering you are producing on the bike
  • Cadence – Also known as RPM, this is the amount of revolutions per minute – aka how fast you are pedaling.
  • Distance – How far you have traveled since taking your first pedal
  • Left/Right balance – A graphic display of your power output on your left and right side which may pick up imbalances in your output.
  • km/h – How fast you are traveling on the bike
